TUTOR / FORM TIME
Being a form tutor is one of the best parts of my job and although I am not the best first thing in the morning, I do enjoy my time with my tutor group. My school has a vertical tutor program and as a sixth form tutor, I have both yr12 and yr13 students.
Over the years I have realised that the biggest impact on tutor time is having a routine. It helps me to know what I am doing as well as the students. They are able to come in each morning and know what is expected of them and what they need to get on with. One thing I make it clear to the students is that tutor time is NOT time for study or homework, we have the activities set and they are not optional.
In this section, I have collated some of the activities and routines that I use and that can be adapted for any year group or tutor format. They are low teacher impact tasks meaning that I can use the time to talk to students if I need to or just get myself ready for the day.
